HEDTA Hydroxyethylethylenediaminetriacetic acid
HEDTA is used in many industries as a chelating agent with hydroxyl groups. Although the chelation stability constant is slightly lower than EDTA, it chelates iron well in alkaline conditions. This is because the hydroxyl group of the alcohol coordinates without dissociation at the low pH stage, but in the alkaline solution, the OH ion coordinates and transforms into a hydroxyl group, and the coordination of the alcohol remains, thus chelating, which helps to function. The physical and chemical properties are similar to EDTA.
The base-neutralized 3Na salt is very hygroscopic and is usually sold as an aqueous solution. We also sell it as an aqueous solution, but we also prepare a crystalline powder with improved hygroscopicity by using a special manufacturing method of this 3Na salt.
